By the way, these cows weight at least 1 ton each. That’s really huge and muscular.

They don’t mate the cows. They get sperm from the males and look at it under a microscope and pick out each individual sperm that is the most dominat so they have no negative genes. They can tell by the different pattens in the sperm movement and how fast they are moveing

Sorry, folks….time for some education for a few of you…THIS is not a genetic disorder that happens unexpectedly with the breeds shown here, it is caused by the Myostatin protein in the system being slowed or stopped and this creates the double muscling…it is not caused by steroids….it is not caused by any chemicals….it is not an accident being shown to win ribbons and money….THIS is called double muscling and is found in certain breeds of livestock for human consumption of meat (also found in some non livestock animals as well). It IS genetic, but not a defect, it has been bred for on purpose. In cattle, for example, certain calves pop up with double muscling and those calves are then line-bred and so on until a bloodline is produced that breeds true to form (meaning ALL babies are born with the desired trait) and ALL of them are double muscled, then they are set as a new or specific type and breed. It gives an increase of meat per carcass on hoof when taken to the feed lots and at hanging weight once in the slaughter house, while actually cutting down on the number of animals per acre. Yes, some of them have medical issues affecting things like bones and joints and they require some slightly different feed allowances t be sure the skeletal structure develops properly to support the body mass, but that is to be expected with ALL types of animals, humans included. The cattle shown are heifers, cows, bulls and steer…ALL are different, heifers are female cows from birth until old enough to reproduce, cows are females old enough to reproduce or that have reproduced, bulls are males with the ability to reproduce from birth on, and steers are former bulls that have had the “family jewels” removed and can no longer reproduce….and calves are male and females from birth to being old enough to reproduce. There is nothing wrong with these breeds, the majority of these are a breed called Belgian Blues (other such double muscle breeds include the Parthenais and the Piedmontese), they are not freaks, and while they ARE large, the largest actual BREED of cattle is the Italian bred Chianina. Before you start slamming breeders, you really should do your homework and know what you are talking about…it keeps you from sounding really stupid….and FYI, yes, double muscled beef DOES taste the same as any other beef, you buy at the store…. Have a good day! :)
