Top 10 Deadliest Creatures on earth

Posted on 13. Apr, 2007 by Alicia in Animals, General

10. Poison Dart Frog

These pint sized frogs aren’t for kissing. Their backs ooze a slimy neurotoxin that is meant to keep predators away. Each frog produces enough of the toxin to kill 10 humans.

09. Cape Buffalo

When faced with a predator, cape buffalos charge head on. That’s 1,500 pounds of beast topped off with two big, sharp horns. You’re lucky if there’s only one – the real danger comes when a herd of thousands stampedes in your direction.

08. Polar Bear

Sure they might look cuddly at the zoo, but in the wild they eat elephant seals for breakfast. Get between one and its cub and it could easily rip off your head with one swipe of its giant paw.

07. Elephant

Not every elephant is as friendly as Dumbo. Elephants kill more than 500 people a year worldwide. African elephants generally weigh in around 16,000 pounds – all the better to stomp you with – not to mention their sharp tusks.

06. Australian Saltwater Crocodile

Don’t mistake this croc for a log! It can lay still in the water, waiting for passers by. Then, in the blink of an eye, it’ll lunge at prey, pulling it under water to drown and dismember

05. African Lion

Giant fangs? Check. Lightning quick? That too. Razor sharp claws? You betcha. Hungry? You better hope not. These big cats are near perfect hunters.

04. Great White Shark

Blood in the water can excite these sharks into a feeding frenzy, where they’ll use all 3,000 of their teeth to bite anything that moves

03. Australian Box Jellyfish

lso known as the sea wasp, this salad-bowl sized jellyfish can have up to 60 tentacles each 15 feet long. Each tentacle has 5,000 stinging cells and enough toxin to kill 60 humans

02. Asian Cobra

While the Asian Cobra doesn’t hold the title of most venomous snake, it does the most with what it has. Of the 50,000 deaths by snakebite a year, Asian Cobras are responsible for the largest chunk.

01. Mosquito

Most skeeter bites just make you itch. But some mosquitoes carry and transfer malaria causing parasites. As a result, these little pests are responsible for the deaths of more than two million people a year. So The Winner is Mosquito

    i am missing Humans!

  2. Anonymous 18 April 2007 at 1:58 pm #

Deadliest.. Dunno, maybe more like “The most dangerous of the most well-known”. And even then, the mosquito logic would be flawed.

  3. Linson Chan 18 April 2007 at 3:06 pm #

Dont we consider human as animals too? Mammals that is… we are far more dangerous than any of what is mention`d here…. humans kill ratio is…. well, just figure it out….

  4. zach 18 April 2007 at 3:19 pm #

    you’re forgtting Seun hui cho

  5. Scott 18 April 2007 at 4:11 pm #

How lame. Thats a load of Rubbish. The Fact that the 2 Million that die from Mosquitos are people in Poor countries like India, and Africa. A very very small amount of people die in places like Europe becuase its actually curable. You will always have the side affects I.e. Sweating etc which malaria causes but the chances of dieing are fairly slim. Basically what im saying is 3rd countries don’t really count on the death toll, becuase they die of things like Diarrhea..So we could then say “Top 10 Diseases on earth” and Diarrhea..being number 1 which is just horse crap!

  6. Paul Greeley 18 April 2007 at 4:37 pm #

Was this a middle school project? It seems put together by a child. The deadliest animal in Africa is actually the Hippo, Not a Cape buffalo or Lion etc. A mosquito?? Seriously. That has little to do with the animal and more to do with living conditions of the country. How about using the funnel web spider which is actually really dangerous and would actually scare me if it landed on my arm.

  7. icedragon 18 April 2007 at 4:39 pm #

err hippopotamus kill more people then lions and elephants and crocs put together.

  8. madchemist 18 April 2007 at 5:26 pm #

Wouldn’t the parasite which is transmitted by the mosquito be the deadliest and not the mosquito itself?
I get bit by mossies all the time!
What about viruses and bacteria? How many people do those buggers kill?

  9. Federico 18 April 2007 at 5:26 pm #

Scott, did you really said 3rd world countries deaths don’t really count on the death toll?? I think your death shouldn’t be considered for the death toll.

And yes, I live in a 3rd world country.

  10. Blue 18 April 2007 at 5:40 pm #

I’m with you Federico. Let’s hope no one misses him when he dies because evidently the rest of the world doesn’t matter to him.

    Deadliest Creatures on earth?

    It has to be humans

If you think about it, how manny creatures that became extinct because of humans. And the nucluear bombs we have, we can distroy the whole earth.

  12. mango 18 April 2007 at 7:34 pm #

white sharks dont attack humans normally
but they all can be very dangerous for sure

  13. Me 18 April 2007 at 9:21 pm #

hmmm when i read this, i thought it was going to have some real top 10 creatures but it doesn’t. I am sure there’s more crazy, deadly creatures out there that could do more damage than the mosquito. I think the title should be Top 10 killers of humans :) and then remove the last nine out from the list :) …other than that found it nice to read :) .

  14. humanoid 18 April 2007 at 9:56 pm #

    #1 should be Human

  15. soulness 18 April 2007 at 10:30 pm #

this is obviously bias, they are tring to get people to be scared of mosquitoes? thats the stupidest thing ive ever heard. there are way crazier animals out there, this is weak

  16. surfvivor 19 April 2007 at 12:28 am #

After having two encounters with great white sharks I would much rather have multiple encounters with mosquitoes.

  17. Guy With Knowledge 19 April 2007 at 5:00 am #

Australia has the most venomous land snake, sea snake, Jellyfish, ect. Crocs (not just Australian) WILL kill and do it quite well when they do. Basically in Australia if it isn’t venomous its dangerous. Hippos kill more because people don’t keep their distance/ they intrude on their territory.

  18. Jerry 30 April 2007 at 5:34 am #

So am i right in presuming the Hippo kills more human beings than any other animal in the world as i have been told this EVERY time i have visited Africa.I know full well they kill more people than lions,snakes,sharks..etc but are they the worlds most prolific killer of humans???

  19. julie 29 May 2007 at 3:44 pm #

That list is total bull for the simple fact that white sharks are on there, not to mention that hippos are not on the list. Also, polar bears are EXTREMELY dangerous but they do not kill that many people a year, same goes for poision frogs and the box jelly. I believe the snake stat is wrong as well.

Heck lets just look at the 2006 shark stats (a stat that includes all species and not just white sharks). Only FOUR people died (recorded deaths) last year from sharks and there were less than a hundred attacks worldwide. And attacks can be anything from the loss of a limb to a tiny scratch.

Perhaps the list should have been titled the most dangerous instead of deadly. Even the then the list would not be correct.

  20. Kassandra 8 November 2007 at 11:18 pm #

    Hi,
Everyone knows Great Wjotes arn’t the deadliest of the shark species, they’re the 2nd deadliest… Bull sharks are the worst and are respnsible for 82 fatal attacks, unsure of how many are non-fatal, but this beats the Great White so leave it alone.
Great White’s have been labelled the most deadly, because of movies like “Jaws” so take it off the list and put the Bull Shark on…

    Bye

  21. copperface 14 November 2007 at 11:56 pm #

    this list blows

  22. ACe 1 February 2008 at 11:39 am #

    To Scott,

You such a slimeball, too proud that you are living in a “first world country” doesnt even know how to spell DYING and not “dieing”

  23. pete 29 February 2008 at 11:24 pm #

yes this is pretty lame list, for one how many humans are killed by polar bears each year, the great white mite provoke the most fear in humans but the most dangerous is the bull shark because it can live in both salt and fresh water as for snakes wat about the black mamba, the tiapan or the american rattler, the box jellyfish is deadly but not as much as the blue ringed octupus it can cause cardiac arrest within 5 minutes of a bite.

  24. Venom 2 May 2008 at 6:54 pm #

Where my fuckin hippo? I take these bombo-clock lies, you don’t respecting to my hippo. Feel the power of a hippo! I challenge you all, this is an open challenge. You can’t take the challenge: you can’t take the hippo.

This list is my hostage. Take your bombo-clock lies!

  25. john 16 June 2008 at 3:32 am #

aw man, i have like 30 Mosquitos in my house im frinking dead.

  26. leim 30 July 2008 at 3:08 am #

i was very satisfied of what i saw

  27. dave 21 August 2008 at 6:22 pm #

Number 1 should be the HUMANS.

Humans are the deadliest creature in Earth. How many animals are killed each year by humans. With couple of nukes humans can kill billions and billions of creatures.

For godness shake we hunt elephants, lions sharks for food.
We keep lions and other animals in cages, and if we wanted to we can get them killed anytime.

  28. cheyann 18 October 2008 at 1:02 am #

The asian cobra is venomus and deadly in asia. a cobra can stand a human right in the face and bite you and you will have to get somebody to take you to the hospital before you die. so I would say that the asian cobra should be number one on the ten dedlyest animals.

  29. Khan 14 November 2008 at 6:19 pm #

Please i wana tell that the number 1 dangerous thing on the earth is human?????????

  30. Danielle 10 February 2009 at 11:51 pm #

Yes, we may be the number one dangerous thing on the earth but if you really think about it, mosquitos come very close. I disagree with you Scott about the fact that people in foreign countries don’t count. I would like to let you know that is very racist and I am very disappointed that anyone in this world would be so inconsiderate as you are. People in Africa that die because of deadly infections because of mosquitos deserve way more respect than you give them. When I read your message let me say I got very angry. If you do have an opinion that may be offensive to certain people like the one you posted, I’d advise you to keep that to yourself. Thank you very much!

  31. Aditya 12 March 2009 at 9:45 pm #

    To Scott,
yo dickhead India is not a poor country it has the 2nd largest army in da world nd kick da ass of any first world country dat u live in

  32. Rindooey 20 March 2009 at 6:46 pm #

Holy Crap ! The mosquito ????? Watch out. You won’t catch me trying top take a closer look at any massive animal. A hippo. Yeah right lets get a close up hey ? Could there be any more gorgeous looking animal than Hippo Then there are some total morons around this world.

  33. Curtis 21 March 2009 at 9:08 pm #

Why Aint Chuck Norris #1????? XD

  34. Tarrmesh 28 March 2009 at 6:40 am #

The most deadliest animals are dangerous to us
humans. If we do not destroy them, the world
    will be such dangerous.

  35. Kris 11 April 2009 at 12:39 pm #

I don’t think ‘Scott’ meant that 3rd world deaths should not be included, only that Malaria from mosqito bites is a preventable disease. It is only because these countries are under devoloped
that these deaths happen on such a grand scale.
It seems sad that millions of people die in world every year uneccessarily from what is considered in some
of countries just to be pest.

P.s Humans are the no.1 ‘deadliest creature’. I find it bizzare
that they are not on any list I’ve seen. Perhaps it is because
    humans write the list?

  36. duece 16 April 2009 at 7:52 pm #

fucc all of yall,im the deadliest bitches

  37. Chris 22 April 2009 at 12:51 am #

Fuck everybody who doesnt agree with Scott. He’s right bitches. Besides I’m the most dangerous!!!!!!!! Bring it!!!

  38. hi 25 April 2009 at 4:48 pm #

well i think their all deadly but i’m nut sure about th polarbear i mean ive actually never heard of wild polar bears hmmmm i think there are more deadly creature in the sea than the land cuz theres a chance there r still dangerous creature living in the seas

  39. jerry 1 May 2009 at 7:56 pm #

    Um..Where is Chuck Norris????

  40. Jeanette 6 May 2009 at 9:00 pm #

    Your list is flawed.

  41. Michael 26 May 2009 at 10:55 pm #

    Hi,

I’m going to take a deep breath and try to defend Scott. I can totally understand why a lot of people got mad at him because his words came out ALL wrong.

“3rd countries don’t really count on the death toll.”

Okay, this seems to be the statement that caused all the problems. It is remarkable that he didn’t realize this was going to sound insanely offensive, but I don’t think he meant that the people don’t matter. I think what he meant was that the mosquito only really kills people who do not have nearly adequate access to health care. If you go swimming with a crocodile, for instance, no doctor can save you.

He was pretty callous in his comments, but I think more than anything his words came out wrong.

    Cheers.

  42. Michael 26 May 2009 at 11:00 pm #

Oh, by the way, this list appears to be stolen from livescience.com

  43. Dr Prof 8 June 2009 at 8:49 pm #

There is a rare African tree frog, which everyone seems to have missed. It’s around 10 to 20 cm In length and it’s entire slimy body is covered in a nuerotoxin which instantaniously kills as it stimulates the medulla oblingata creating myocardial infarction. So this is the most deadliest animal

  44. ParamoreLuva65 10 June 2009 at 9:36 am #

OK, 1st Bull sharks are more dangeous than Great Whites, 2nd Saltwater Crocs are more dangerous than any sharks and cause more deaths, 3rd Hippos are the most dangerous animals in Africa and 4th ITS MOZZIE BITE NOT SKEETER FRIGGIN BITES!!!
    GET UR FACTS RIGHT!

  45. Gothicmonkey 13 June 2009 at 8:33 am #

    They are missing cone snails!!

Their venom can kill 15 people in one sting!!

    isn’t that deadly enough??

    http://grimwade.biochem.unimelb.edu.au/cone/index1.html

    :P

  46. Rahul 2 July 2009 at 7:21 am #

I believe this list is based on number of deaths caused by each of the animals…but if that is the case American President would be No.1 almost every year

  47. bhavesh 4 July 2009 at 9:30 am #

It should even include the African Black Mamba

  48. shutup 9 July 2009 at 5:03 pm #

    your all stupid

  49. poo 17 August 2009 at 9:49 am #

yer shutup is right just shut up and then no one will go on the website

  50. me_fabulous 18 August 2009 at 6:17 am #
