I weeped..
This is without a doubt the most poignant and powerful website I have ever viewed. You have changed me. Every day I go on through my little hum drum world, bitching and moaning about having to put gas into my Luxury SUV. Ignorant to all those who have struggled in this world, and all those who continue to struggle, and die for thier beliefs.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for putting this together. It moved me in a way that nothing every probably will again.
I was lost in the photos, then I felt myself in the photos. The only thing I could do was pray that people, especially children, are spared from the miseries the photos portrayed.
So, you create a popular page by using other people’s work but you don’t even have the common decency to credit the photographers. These pictures are the result of dedication and hard work. Many of these photographers risked their lives many times to produce work of this quality. And along you come and steal their pictures (because this page is a clear violation of the photographers’ copyright). Some of these are Magnum images, so I’m going to send an email to the agency. Expect a letter from their lawyers. Thieves like you are scum.
Three comments, 2 about that they liked the page and one about copyright issues.
I guess that you are americans, all of you. Ignorant and totally clueledd. diosdado: you can do more than pray, and if you pray, you don’t do nothing.
Dick: stfu.
and easilyforgotten: Do NOT go back into your “hum drum” world, as most people do. if youre yet another of thoose cristian assholes, your religion DEMANDS you to love all people just as much as you love your americans. To not do something is the same as killing. Remember that.
Martin Josefsson, Sweden.
Why are you attacking him? I am not an American, but I agree with Dick Kennedy . It is important who shot those pictures.
I cried over most of them and the photographers who shot them should take credit.
So, you see: you shouldn’t assume that all Europeans are the same (or Americans).
You wrote “I guess that you are americans, all of you. Ignorant and totally clueledd.”. First of all, this is an insult. What gives you (from Sweden which is also clueleSS / I understand that s and s are close, but when you are attacking someone… / about same things just in a more hidden way) the right to insult people like that?

Oh, why do you think that you have the right to call Christians assholes?
Sorry for the double post.
The photos should not be credited to the photographers…they should be taken down! These photos are all copyrighted. NONE of them are public domain and using the photos here constitutes theft…and is ILLEGAL.
DaveK
so touching! i cried seeing all these photos.
You people are ridiculous. Look at the pictures. Feel the pain. Who cares if the author of this website “stole” them. He is not taking credit for shooting them, He is sharing them. You people who get on the web, and criticize everything you come across, make me sick. Who the hell do you think you are to judge anyone. I hope I never run into anyone of you.
Well said GK.
Its not about the Photographer, but the subject, stop mud-slinging and look a little deeper. Copyright: the very word makes me want to vomit. When a country is bombed back to the stone age do you think anybody stops to think about the artwork that will be lost, or the ‘Copyrighted’ lives which will be destroyed?
I love these pictures They remind of all the sick individuals in this world, and not just Americans, no-Americans, or any other nationality. People need to stop looking at race, color, and stupid detailed and trivial things and just take a minute to look at what is important, which is the people in those photos, and why NOBODY is doing a damn thing to stop them. Thanks to who ever posted these. And to those who get on here and complain, shame on you. Chances are you’ll die young and unhappy.
God Bless.
It was me, Tejero, and no Molina who entered in Congress in Spain.. Please, correct it or i will shot all of you!!
Love and hate mix well on all levels the old, dying, forgotten, poor, war -stricken and the self righteous. Nothing “belongs” to us. it is merely borrowed just as the time it has taken me to write this to you. Love the things you admire and forget to respond to the haters of life.
This is what we go through our lives not seeing, not feeling, not experiencing. But there are so many who do…….
All you people claiming you cried over the photographs are a bunch of homos. Jesus Christ what a bunch of pussies
I would have thought for sure there would be a picture of the bataan death march..from world war II…..now thats what i call torture…….
http://www.bataansurvivor.com/
wtf, you can’t have those pictures amongst these because they would show empathy towards Americans and Martin Josefsson, Sweden would have none of that. Some kinds of hate are cool. Remember that.
ha ha ha these photos made me laff my ass off. good job, very humorous. throw up some nigger lynching fotos too
oh and really, you assholes who are bitching about copyright infringement are just as stupid as you other assholes who are “weeping” over these photos. WHo cares? most of this shit is from 20 years ago. wtf? I don’t care… Nguyen Ngoc Loan is as dead as the guy he shot, just like most of the political and social situations behind these photos.
here is a clue, for the jackasses who are responding to this shit, as well as the dickfuck who posted it in the first place.
BE RELEVANT
So many petty petty little children with big egos here……………..
“A man who was tortured by the soldiers…”
“A kid in Uganda about to die of hunger, and a missionaire”
“Colonel Molina ve military police seizes the Parliament building in Spain”
“We will have them insert.”
…grammar + English lol
This site is one of million like it. Big deal. Cry then put the gas in your luxury SUV. What a douche bragger you are.
Everyone else, funny to act so bad ass when you are anonymous.
you know what always gets me?? Like, what the hell was someone doing just standing there taking a picture when this shit went on??? Shouldn’t they have been, i dunno, doing something usefull? Like trying to save those people falling from a fire escape??
Like, honestly, who’s first rationale thoughts when you see someone falling to their death is, “oh, i should take a picture of this…”
These photos are prize winning photos from the last few decades. I can’t be certain but I think they have all won either a Pulitzer or a top award for Journalistic photography. Many of them have been published in ethics books and books on journalistic photography and of course journalistic sites.
Why did they bury the kid and his father’s pants?
I think the photos are awesome. I think they really show the rawness of life and brought out in me many emotions - sympathy for those IN the photos, to see the struggle, the pain and the fear. And also amazement in how human beings can believe in something so powerfully that they would burn themselves alive or stand infront of army tanks.
The past is what has CREATED the present - without the past there would be no present…to see pieces of history such as these, makes me grateful for what I have and where I am.
Re the copyright issues and people posting slandering messages - my fellow humans, there is enough hatred in this world…lets not be so quick to anger. Look for the good, be happy and spread the love! To learn something from the photos - make peace not war!
Absolutely stunning. I’m sure someone told you, but just in case, the picture of the soldier dying in the priest’s arms was during guerilla uprising in Puerto Cabello, northwestern Venezuela. Dark days for my country. Thank you for posting it.
From the bottom of my heart, and with every once of truth i have in my body, I would gladly give my life in the blink of an eye, if it would stop the suffering on this earth.

“February 1, 1968. South Vietnam police chief Nguyen Ngoc Loan shots a young man, whom he suspects to be a Viet Kong soldier.”
At least have the decency to get your facts straight. The “young man” who is about to be shot, has just been charged with murdering the wife and young children of a South Vietnamese high ranking official.
Yeah, he pulled the trigger on a woman and her kids.
The metal slug that ended his life is the true hero in that picture.
These are brilliant photos, a fuck you to all the people that wave the copyright shit at the author, there is a disclaimer where the author spells out:
“These images are not origin from the author of this website. They are from forward mails. If you know the owners of them, please let us know. We will have them insert.”
Maybe if you guys read the words instead of just looking at the pictures, you might have seen that.
zero great collection. whether you “stole” these photos or not, people can not be reminded enough of the themes evident in these photos.
to dick kennedy:
if you for one second think that the credits of these photos are more important than the photos themselves you might be the stupidest person anyone viewing this page will ever encounter. the photographers do not take these photos to get credit. they take the photos to remind people what is happening while people are watching a television or complaining about their big mac. you’re like a record company executive getting pissed off about people downloading music.
“All these pictures made me cry”
Come on. You’ll go to school / work tomorrow and forget you ever even saw the site and if you do remember it isn’t like you are going to go out and attempt to do anything about these situations. Not that you could change any of it anyways. ENJOY the freedoms you have……don’t bother yourself with the problems of others you can’t fix. How come everyone always gets all emotional and says it is so sad to see people in third world countries suffering? As if people don’t suffer in America. Bet most people here don’t even think twice when they see a homeless person sleeping on the sidewalk.
Most of these are winners of the world press photo award.
http://www.worldpressphoto.org
The 1995 photograph is by James Nachtwey. See his website, “Witness”: http://www.jamesnachtwey.com/
Touching photographs. Makes me grateful for everything I was given. And, it’s the internet, you’re bound to find illegal things floating about. You’d have to agree that this collection does far more good than The Simpsons Movie Screener.
Did you know that making 2 backup copies of your DVDs is illegal? Asshole copyright laws.
Typo: I meant the 1994 photograph.
wow. After reading a lot of your posts zero, i always thought you were an asshole. But you made an effort to broadcast the pains of this world, so i guess u mite be alrite.
about the copyrights - morally speaking if the person/s taking the photo took them solely to make profit, then they are the biggest bastards.
Im pretty sure the main reason they did so was to spread this kind of thing to the rest of the world, to wake them up and make them want to do something about.
But people seem more interested in hearing that ‘paris hilton’s left boob aches’ or ‘ the latest happenings on david beckhams right testicle’. ppl will talk about stuff like that for weeks, but most likely forget this kind of thing in a day.
Colección de fotografias inolvidables de la história…
Hablan por ellas mismas. Y no sabia que el fotografo de la foto del 23F hubiera escondido el carrete en su zapato….
and so, what is reflected in these pictures; the differences, the suffering, the ignorance is reinforced by the variety of comments to the picture.
Depressing rather than touching, I think.
Let me clarify that it was not Colonel Molina but Lieutenant Tejero who took the parliament. And the soldier who was hold by a priest it was during the spanish civil war.
It is a great collection of photographs, good job.
Read the account of “General Nguyen Ngoc Loan Executing a Viet Cong Prisoner in Saigon” at Wikipedia. It is a photograph taken by Eddie Adams who said:
“The general killed the Viet Cong; I killed the general with my camera. Still photographs are the most powerful weapon in the world. People believe them, but photographs do lie, even without manipulation. They are only half-truths…What the photograph didn’t say was, ‘What would you do if you were the general at that time and place on that hot day, and you caught the so-called bad guy after he blew away one, two or three American soldiers?”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nguyen_Ngoc_Loan
The responses from the various viewers were almost as powerful for me as the pictures themselves. I can’t remember a time when something moved me enough to evoke a written reaction. Thank you.
FUCK USA and its idiot politica
i dont have problem with Usa people but if they r dont see that victim they r real idiot
STOP BUSH STOP WAR STOP ISRAEL STOP WAR thats all fuck the ppl
Very heart touching pics and makes you think for a while.
The misery that has been created by the human need to conquer. We bleed red no matter the color of our skin, we should help each other in times of need. If one nation faces hunger and another nation has the ability to nourish, should they not do so without the thought financial gain or loss. War and oppression is not the answer nor will it ever be. truly amazing photos
Thank You
LOL AT DEM NIGGAS
GO BUSH
You know, I’m getting really sick of all the Anti-American propaganda and bashing that occurs online and elsewhere. Just so you know, Americans are *by far* the most generous of all nationalities. We give more to charity than any other country (per capita) and we volunteer more than any other country. It would be nice if the rest of you people would be as generous as Americans are. Get up off your ass and do something other than complaining about the U.S.
now look at the war crims against humanity look at the amerikans dragging dat poor bastard by a fuken tank now wtf i think dat is a crim do u?
when people in balkans umm who could i put for a exapmle serbians ok they did alot to people as well and its said they are genocide and all this other stuff but wat about wat the usa does something wat happens then nothing cuz dey 4get but wat about the serbians ok they did massicare muslims in 1995 but amerika killd lots of serbians when nato was boming that is a war crime as well my frends we have to stop the people of amerika and der war crims to nattions all over the world amerika u will pay some day all of the pain u have gave to people in the world bombing vietname bombbing serbia now boming iraq ok iraq terriost but serbia wat did they do….. all i have to say is that amerika will pay god will panish you and your govermant….

AMERIKA SUCKS MY BIG SERB DICK CUNTZ DEATH TO AMERIKA
U ALL WILL BURN IN HELL YOUR HOLLYWOOD AND YOUR SLUTS ALL BURNNNNNN!!!!
Wow, Aleks. You make me want to throw up. Get a gun already and parody the ‘Amerika’ you so desperately despise. Hypocrite.
As for the pics themselves, they are touching only insofar as they are humbling. None of us from the affluent West and Europe can possibly comprehend such scenarios. The journalists who took those pics should be both honoured for their strength to hold witness, and reviled for that same strength that stopped them from intervening. On the one hand, without them we would not see the depths of human tragedy; but on the other, each individual is needed to avert such tragedy. They could have been that critical individual.
On America. I’m an Australian, and I am horrified by my country’s involvement in a war that is no more than a resource grab. Australians vote this November, and I would bet all I own that we will vote Howard out because of this war. No one is impressed except the businesses involved, and the racist minority. I will not generalise, but the Americans must accept that this war has damaged their international profile. All hail the new Nazis of the West! You ‘nigger haters’ and fundamentalist Christians only add strength to this profile. You may be big, America, but that just makes you all the more easy a target of ridicule.
ok u tell me now how am i a Hypocrite.
i live in aus aswell in qld as a matter of fact i am ashamed of da presidant now he hade no busniss 2 put aussi lives in danger in iraq amerika is strong enugh 2 fight dem
but he wants aus 2 look bettter and yes i need a ggun 2 kill da haters in da fuken world and criminals….serbs are not criminals dey stick up 4 der people and kill the enemy
I’m from Australia too. I totally agree with you Alex. You know, all being said and done, it’s the leaders of our countries that are to “blame”, we shouldn’t be hating each other for the mistakes or bad decisions our prime ministers/presidents make.
I’m sure there is good in the hearts of most of us, and we all dont like to think of the wrong things our own countries might be doing/creating, becuase it seems to come down to being a reflection of ourselves…when I think, in reality, there is not much you can do (except for the lucky countries - vote out your current leader [as Alex said] in hopes for something better), so it shouldn’t be a reflection of us as individuals.
That being said - can we please stop posting abuse at each other??…just a friendly request.
I agree with you De. I’m from the U.S. and it’s been horrific to see all the abuse from person to person. People really don’t even understand what they’re fighting for anymore. It’s not my direct fault that the events over the last few years have taken place. Neither is it some helpless Iraqi child’s fault or anyone else for that matter. People are so quick to place blame before they find out the true facts. If you look at it like this, all through history governments have been corrupt. Unfortunately it will be this way until we figure out a better system. Until then, I educate myself, educate others, and help find a better, non-violent way… because there is one.
omg finalli a smart amerikan der should be more people like u Rae a lot more and the presidant should be like dat aswell
just a q why do u think amerika is helping in kosovo?
cuz they dnt want the serbs 2 have there own land?
no they dnt give a shit bout that(sorry if i am offending anyone but just saying the truth) they wont oil..
Of course they want oil, we all know that… Its just war for black gold so they can grease their palms…
Hey Rae - Re your last sentance, whats your views on the better, non-violent way? Educate me please.
dick i’m very patriotic, however your parents named you very fuck this!…your an ass!!!!!! treat people the way you want to be treated.. does it matter how the picture was taken,by whom reall americans would most likely kick you ass i’m apologize to every county for this absolute asshole.Sorry for the language ladies. My spelling might suck, but so does the reallity u liv e in. i was in the army, infantry…put yourself in their place…really cloese your eyes your very lucky 3/4 of this planet lives in misery. Send money to doctors without borders, helps someone in need. It will make you feel better then money ever could. Make friends…….. i hope you become my friend ,bridges a funner than walls.i will have a beer, a virtual beer , lets clink pints ……..salute!
ps thanks for the reallity check frued said basically were all stuck in a fucked up world, so give the other person a hand it pays better than money
DionysianDon:
where are you getting your statistics? Americans aren’t anywhere near the top of the list when it comes to volunteerism and charitable donations. Perhaps you’re mistaking the US for, say, Canada.
If you try to understand why the Buddhist priest never moved, nor made a sound while burning alive, you may yet understand all of the other pictures.
It’s a miracle the human race made it this far. We are self centered, and “we are what we eat” instead of being what we were meant to be. We will never know enlightenment. We postulate wanting to know the meaning of life but do nothing about it. Ashes to ashes and dust to dust we return to the ground having lived our life in blissful ignorance.
Buddha had some “interesting” ideas… Christ had some “interesting” ideas… and even if Christian religion has 33.06% followers of the world’s population, no one seems to mind what Christ said. In the name of Christ and his teachings, more people were killed than for all the other religions put together. I firmly believe this is not what he had in mind for us (FYI: I’m not Christian, I’m sort of an atheist searching for… whatever… never mind…)
It’s our selfish and flawed human nature that we must fight, and our divine nature that we must embrace. This collection of photos is a reminder that humans are still animals; including you, including me. Terra was never before this sad…
These are journalistic photographs meant to capture a millisecond in time and tell a story, not to call a piece of art and bitch about when someone passes them on.
Sad thing is, when a person puts out something of quality onto the great world wide web you can always be sure of a few complete jerks jumping in and ruining it.
I shook my head as i saw glimpses of what some of you people wrote, and made a beeline to the bottom of this page to put in my two cents.
the author left a paragraph at the end requesting copyright, citation, etc info at the bottom of the list. clear? clear…
if you don’t like the pictures just don’t say anything about them. Just because you disliked a recently deceased person doesn’t mean you go about desecrating their grave. think of the people who actually cared about the person
i can see that a few of you insisted on devolving into the hackneyed argument about politics and anti- americanism. Please stop. this isn’t your private shooting range.
the internet seems to be becoming more and more a public domain, seeing as people are trashing it like they do to public areas.
Frank - my sentiments exactly! You hit the nail right on the head! Good on ya!
Man, I cant believe some of the people on the net are so petty.
Dick, is, a, pansy.
Internet is for distribution of information. No where were these EVER said to be author original.
What retards.
Bravo on some fine publications.
LOL that iraqi at the end should have thought twice before becoming terrorist now hes pwned hahaha serves him right
LOL you are probably the most pitiful, sorry ass, excuse for a corpse fucker.
How can you say the Iraqi people are terrorists, when they did nothing to you, nothing to the world!? Still you killed them by the thousands, without motive or provocation, like you did with may others.
Here me when I say: the american government and the people that back it up are the true terrorists.
After all the US have engaged so many countries in war, in the last few years, and destroyed every thing and every one that stood in their way. The world would have much peace if it weren’t for you savage animals, cold blooded serpents, narrow minded apes, murdering innocent people.
After all we should believe Bush when he says that Amaraka (ups! did I just say that?!) is leading a war against Terra (he does seem to say that, doesn’t he). Him, and Cheney, and all the others, believe that the war on Terra will prevail. Let’s hope they are wrong.
Power to the people!
PS: LOL… Go fuck yourself!! will you!?
Back in college, I took a cultural anthropology class led by a professor who wasn’t afraid to talk about her feelings, when we approached certain studies that dealt with topics such as war, hunger, epidemic, etc. She once said that she can’t help but cry for the people in the photos in our textbook, despite the fact that the books were a couple years old and the images probably much older than that. As I left class that day, a mate walked with me to the parking lot. He scoffed at the prof’s remarks, made fun of her for being so touchy-feely.
I felt the same way at that moment that I do now, after reading some of the most ignorant, selfish comments I’ve ever read: If she–if we–don’t cry for these people, who will?
Movement and change begins with compassion. Some people outwardly show their compassion by shedding tears. It’s natural and not something to ridicule others over. In this day and age, knowing what we know, having looked back at millions of years of history, there is no room for the rude, blindingly oafish thoughts that have been posted by some people here. There is only room for the fact that there is one race–the human race–and it is up to us to preserve it and protect it, together. We live in a global society, connected more closely than we realize. I imagine the photographers who snapped these images hold somewhat of a similar belief, and I don’t believe it was their intention, as brave artists witness to major historical events, to capitalize on work that, as we’ve seen in some posts here, has been inspirational.
Because whatever horrific events have befallen the poor individuals pictured, I’d like to think they did not die without teaching all those left behind something of decency and humility and compassion.
As I am a student,I don’t have much experience about life, but since I saw those photos.I started to think about the people among we live.We can find those realities in out daily life. what we have to do is to take care of them and give them an opportunity to have a normal life. I got a tons of tears when I saw the hand of the child of Uganda.. At least millionaire who can make them better. Those photos are a few examples. You can relate those with terror n terrorism also.
I would like to thank the owner of this website, and the photographers who’ve taken those photos and tell us about the life which we have never seen before. I believe We should help those people in our manner. May be we or our coming generation would have to face those traumas.
Augustin as Dave Chapelle would say if you got a problem with the us government sanction us with your army o WAIT YOU DONT GOT AN ARMY? then i’d stfu if i were you
plus iraqis do all kind of shit suicide bombings sponosor terrorist groups they dont arrest random citizens and put em in war prisons for no reason you fucking tard face so fuck that iraqi probably funded some terrorist group against america
Oh my God… LOL I’m so very sorry, I must not have realized you are BRAIN-DEAD.
…still you are an americunt… being brain-dead is the american dream
LOL please try to restrain yourself and don’t write any more comments, before you embarrass yourself any further
Take care
augustin please dodge the issue some more i realized in your last reply you haven’t adressed any of the issues so please do dodge them some more
Dick Kennedy, YOU LOSER! … You are more concerned about money and copyright issues than the fate of mankind and the terrible violation of human rights that we witness in these pictures above.
People like you are the perpetrators of such vile and evil acts. Even if you do not physically commit an act of violence yourself your attitude towards it is as if you you may as well have pulled the trigger yourself as you clearly support this sorry state of affairs.
The world is in a bad way and it is totally the fault of people like you. You and people like you are totally to blame as far as I am concerned and guess what… we don’t need people like you on our planet so go fuck off to the moon or wherever else it is that you want to buy with the lives of the innocent and defenseless.
The author of this website clearly says that the pictures are mostly from unknown sources and he/she will post the names and credits of the photographers if forwarded.
NOW….READ THIS OVER AND OVER UNTIL IT SINKS IN:
DECENT HARD WORKING HONEST PEOPLE OF THIS WORLD ARE LESS CONCERNED ABOUT PEOPLE LIKE YOU AND YOUR FUCKING COPYRIGHT ISSUES AND MORE CONCERNED ABOUT LIVING IN A WORLD FREE FROM FEAR, PERSECUTION, LIES AND HIPOCRASY.
ALSO PLEASE NOTE THAT I HAVE NOT DIRECTED MY COMMENT AGAINST AMERICANS, AIRAGIS OR ANY OTHER NATION. IT DOESN’T MATTER WHERE YOU COME FROM OR WHAT LANGUAGE YOU SPEAK OR WHAT THE COLOUR OF YOUR SKIN IS… WHAT MATTERS IS THIS: ARE YOU SCUM LIKE Dick Kennedy OR NOT
am i the only one that saw the line at the bottom of the pictures that states he would like the names of the photographers so he can credit them!!! are you that cold that a copyright is what you took out of looking at these pictures. I am embarrased to have witnessed some of your comments and you should be ashamed of yourselves
Why cant everyone just stop arguing and slandering? If we have a comment about the PICUTRES themselves, lets post it, but for crying out loud, is all the swearing, blaming and anger really necessary? Can we please just comment about the PICTURES, and/or our feelings on the PICUTRES and stop with all the anger, hate and public verbal abuse?? If you want to argue (wether it be about coutries and their leaders, beliefs, religions etc), go somewhere else to do it! Do you really think that you will be getting your point across anyway? You’re just banging your head against a brick wall, all the while spreading hatred. Why not have something nice to say about someone? Positivity, love, respect, happiness… you know? The very things that are missing from most of those pictures.
I’m sure that the people who are genuenly intrigued with these picutres and the history they depict, really dont want to bare witness to an immature argument over who’s country is best, who’s leader is the most evil, what country is the most generous or WHO MIGHT ACTAULLY BE PERFECT?!
We all look at the pictures above and see the lack of humanity. If we can learn anything from them, shouldn’t we - especially on THIS post - be trying to be courteous, considerate and respectful of the fact that WE ALL have different views and oppinions? If you cant stand the fact that someone thinks something different, or if you have to swear and curse others to try and get your point across - just DONT POST A COMMENT. Wouldn’t you rather be reading positive, uplifting comments that you can go away, think about, and feel GOOD about??
Ben Basra’dan Ömer…
“Bu zulüm yerde kalmaz
Yemin olsun ki asra.
Önce mevtül insanlık
Sonra harabül Basra”
Belki haberin yoktur diye yazıyorum Franks;
Önce demokrasi yağdı göklerden
Sonra özgürlük geçti üstümüzden
Palet palet…
Ve insan hakları namlularından
Yüzü maskeli adamların
Saniyede bilmem kaç bin adet.
Demokrasi bizim eve de isabet etti
Bir gün sonra anladım ayaklarımın koptuğunu
Babamın vücudunda
Tam on sekiz adet
İnsan hakları saymışlar.
Annem zaten yoktu
Al… çocuÄŸuna götür onları
Bir işe yarasın.
Kim bilir baktıkça,
Belki beni hatırlarsın
“Bu nasıl demokrasi?
Düştüğü yeri yaktı
Merhamet hür dünyaya
Bu kadar mı Irak’tı?”
No, obrien, I saw the notice too. What the hell, people? Talk about missing the point.
In many cases, these images are not owned by the photographers anyway. They were taken as “works for hire,” which means the photo was taken by the photographer as an employee of an organization. The organization owns the photograph. The photographers never see a single dime, nor do they have any rights to it whatsoever.
For example, the photograph of Nguyen Ngoc Loan executing suspected VC was taken by a guy working for the Associated Press. Thus the photo belongs to the AP, not to Eddie Adams (the photographer).
And this page may be a copyright violation, OR it may fall within “fair use” guidelines. In any case, there’s clearly no bad intent here, so why people need to attack the page author/designer instead of acknowledging the power of these photographs is really beyond me.
damn its truley sad people look at the pictures and either felt bad for themselves with their bleeding hearts, they get all flustered by the copyright laws, or just like arguing. the world is fucked up
just remember you reep what you sow good or bad
YAŞASIN DEVRİM, YAŞASIN SOSYALİZM!!
Long live revolution, long live socialism!!
everyone who has problems with dick kennedy y dont you just move to china or russia u fucking communist
The photo of the assassination of Asanuma is from immediately AFTER the sword was removed, no immediately prior to the stabbing.
To all the copyright nazis and the money worshipers… the photographers stole the pictures of the victims in first place. So get lost.
I guess you can manipulate any specific story based on these shocking images, the power of the images, and notably the use of obscene language used here is reflective of it’s immense media value.
LOL JD WHAT ARE YOU A COMMUNIST?
Moving photos.
sure, but whats up with all the d-bags?
The prisoner and his child gave me chills
LAWLZ @ LOL
how about instead of trying to change these places change yourselfs and don’t let it happen to you.
by donating and trying to help other countries your hurting them more.
just look at the pictures and realise something personal has to change, not going around doing supposedly good things when those good things are blatantly for other peoples approval as it is
Hey people, i really doubt that this might be the first time any of you has seen pictures like this. And if you havent before, and if you care about what is happening to other people who could have been you or any of us, then if you really care, there are thousands of things you can do. and as some one else said before me, not doing anything is the same as doing the harm your self.
By the way im a photographer and a journalist and a writer, im not American. and even though i think that one should have the right to choose whether your pictures, or your writing or anything you’ve created, can be seen or used for free by others. i believe that if not receiving any money for some of my shots or articles may have the smallest chance to impact someone enough for them to try and gain consciousness, then by all means, PLEASE use my stuff.
To who criticized the photographer for not “doing anything”, well, as a photographer i can tell you that they did what they should, letting your self go and to intervene is not as hard as restraining your self . its already dangerous enough being there and risking your neck to take one pic so that people back home and in other places of the world might see whats happening, what you as a photographer are being a witness for. what could they do? get shot?, get deported?, tortured?. you can do more by making people learn about how unequal the world is, and you gain more, because maybe, just maybe with your work people would know.
getting shot wont help that guy not getting killed, giving him your money wont do him any REAL - long term good, yes of course, he could buy some food, but there will still be millions more in need of REAL help, and their chances would be less just because you didnt take that picture.
People, it doesnt matter where you come from, if you took the time to even look at these pictures, and even more to write about it, then we all share something in common.
Our indignation.
If you really want to help, then get off your asses and DO something, be a better person, EARN what you have.
Be CONSCIOUS
Fuck the asshole people who speaks about copyright here
My goodness, such hatred. I command you all to love your neighbors. Again. This is my second warning. Play nice or I will come down there.
Hey! All Americans are not as bad as the rest of the world may think! I live my life to better myself and my familys way of life! We are a honest and loving family and if there was something we could do to help the world we would. I hurt when others hurt and I hate injustice as much as anyone, but whats one to do? Its all planned out and only God knows what will happen next! As far as the copyrights, yes this is wrong! I am a photographer and put my heart and soul into my images and would not be happy if someone stole them to use for thier website, now if they sent me a e-mail I would be honored to let them use such powerful images. Just ask, it will get you a long way!
We’ll not everyone can make a major difference in the world, we jus gotta do wut we can in our own way, that is, if most of the world can even REMEMBER to do anything.
Those that are willing to become heroes or try to help the world usually end up assassinated these days, how assassins are made, who knows but still promoting peace can mean death…..
I think americans started to sell feelings as well so if you want to feel sorry for another human being you have to pay,if you want to cry you have to pay,hey you wait if you want to read this you have to pay me or I will sue you I will contact to my lawyer and I will not stop until I get your underpants…oh yeah this makes me feel much better.
